Absolom, David Leslie Clyde

 

 

 

Studio portrait of 1782 Corporal (Cpl) David Leslie Clyde Absolom, 40th Battalion, of Hobart, Tas. Formerly a postman, Cpl Absolom enlisted on 29 May 1916 and as a member of the 2nd Reinforcements, he embarked from Hobart aboard HMAT Ballarat (A70) on 8 August 1916. He served on the Western Front and was killed in action at the third battle of Ypres on 13 October 1917, aged 23.
