Ackroyd, George Charles
Born 29th October 1883 Glen Lusk Tasmania the son of George and Mary Jane Ackroyd (nee Hall) a stone mason he embarked Sydney 22nd August 1916 on board “HMAT Wiltshire” with the 3rd Infantry Battalion.
He was killed by a bomb 4th May 1917 at Bullecourt France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux France ROLL OF HONOUR. ACKROYD. -Killed in action somewhere in France, on or about 4th May, 1917, Private George C. Ackroyd, beloved eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ackroyd, Molesworth. For Kin, Country and Freedom. Inserted by his loving sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. C. Banner, New Norfolk.
