ADAMS, HARCOURT

 

 

 

 

Studio portrait of 2496 Private Harcourt (Duke) Adams, 15th Battalion. A sailor of Swansea, Tas, he enlisted on 10 June 1915 and sailed with the 7th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Orsova on 17 July 1915. He was killed in action, aged 26, at Pozieres on 9 August 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.

 

Mrs. Alice Adams of 43 Smith Street has boon notified by the military authorities that her only son, Private Harcourt (Duke) Adams has been missing in France since August 9th. He left hero fourteen months ago for the front and was in the evacuation of Gallipoli. Previous to enlisting he was in the employ of Messrs, W. Holyman and Sons. He attained his 26th birthday on August 8.
