ADAMS, RAYMOND AXFORD

 

Studio portrait on 3451 Private (Pte) Raymond Axford Adams, 26th Battalion. A farmer from Kilcoy, Qld

prior to enlistment, Pte Adams embarked with the 8th Reinforcements from Brisbane on HMAT Kyarra on 3 January 1916. Whilst serving as Acting Sergeant in France he was reported as missing in action, but was subsequently found to have been killed in action at Pozieres on 5 August 1916, aged 34. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. (This is an uncropped image of the same person on H05742).

Born 8th October 1882 Launceston Tasmania to Charles and Eliza Ann Adams (nee Chamberlain) he was an accountant but working as a farmer in Queensland when he enlisted
