Addison Barry Wentworth

Born Hobart Tasmania, the son of Captain John Elliot and Emily Addison, an engineer who embarked Adelaide 24^th June 1915 on board “HMAT Kanowna” with the 12^th Infantry Battalion.

Sergeant Addison was with the 52^nd Battalion when he was killed in action 3^rd September 1916 at Moquet Farm and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.

Advice was received yesterday that Sergeant Barry Addison had been killed in France between September 3 and 5. Sergeant Addison was 22 years of age, and was the youngest son of Captain J. Addison and brother of Mr. D'Ar'cy Addison Under-Secretary. He had a 12 months' campaign in Egypt and France and was completing his last year's apprenticeship in the railway engineering department when be enlisted.
