Addison Barry Wentworth

 

 

 

Born Hobart Tasmania, the son of Captain John Elliot and Emily Addison, an engineer who embarked Adelaide 24th June 1915 on board “HMAT Kanowna” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 Sergeant Addison was with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 3rd September 1916 at Moquet Farm and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.

Advice was received yesterday that Sergeant Barry Addison had been killed in France between September 3 and 5. Sergeant Addison was 22 years of age, and was the youngest son of Captain J. Addison and brother of Mr. D'Ar'cy Addison Under-Secretary. He had a 12 months' campaign in Egypt and France and was completing his last year's apprenticeship in the railway engineering department when be enlisted.
