Airey, William Robert R.J.

 

 

 

Born 5th September 1893 Launceston Tasmania to Robert and Sarah Airey (nee Rusden) a jam maker who embarked Melbourne 27th September 1915 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 He was initially listed as missing in action but a court of enquiry found he had been killed by a shell at Moquet Farm 19th August 1916. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
