Anderson Gordon Enderby
Born Dehra Dun, North West Province India the son of Neville Anderson but living at “The Moat” Carrick Tasmania when he enlisted, a farmer he embarked Melbourne 2nd February 1915 on board “HMAT Chilka” with the 3rd Light Horse Brigade. He had spent 3 years at Sandhurst Military College and left Australia with the rank of Captain. He was wounded in action 28th July 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and died the following day at Anzac Cove. His body was taken aboard the vessel “Rewa” and buried at sea. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey. Quite a gloom was cast over Carrick when the sad news became known of the death through wounds on July 20 of Captain E. G. Anderson, of the 3rd Light Horse Brigade train. He was the eldest son of Mrs. R. M. Anderson, "The Moat," Carrick, and was of splendid physique. His departure for the front was a loss to the district, as he took a keen interest in everything that pertained to its welfare. The sad news was conveyed to them by the Rev.
