ANDERSON, FREDERICK WILLIAM

 

 

 

Studio portrait of 3256 Private (Pte) Frederick William Anderson, 7th Reinforcements, 26th Battalion, of Lottah, Tas. A miner by trade, he enlisted on 1 August 1915 and embarked from Hobart aboard HMAT Ajana on 13 December 1915. He was killed in action on 23 July 1916 at Pozieres, France, aged 22.

KILLED IN ACTION.

Mrs. B. D Palliser, Fulton Street Ulverstone has received a telegram stating that her nephew Pte Fred Anderson was killed in action in France on July 23. The deceased soldier enlisted a year ago at Lottah where his parents. Mr. and Mrs. C H. Anderson at present reside. He landed in Egypt, and after a short time was sent to France takiug part in the heavy engagement on July 23, when he fell giving his life for the cause which the British have always fought for — freedom.
