Studio portrait of 4356 Corporal (Cpl) William Henry Andrewartha, 47th Battalion, of Dunorlan, Tas. Pte Andrewartha enlisted on 13 August 1915 and embarked from Melbourne, Vic, aboard HMAT Demosthenes on 29 December 1915. He died of wounds on 5 August 1916 in France, aged 24

 

 

Mr. G. W. Stephens yesterday received a cablegram from a friend in London intimating that his brother in law Pte. W. Andrewrtha had been killed in action in France. Private Andrewartha whose parents reside at Burnie was a prominent member of the Wanderers Football Club while at the Burnie Athletic Club's sports on New- Year's Day, 1915, he annexed the mile race. He had also resided at Hobart and Dunorlan and prior to going into camp a little over 12 months ago was married to Miss Stephens of Dunorlan. Mrs. Andrewartha is living with her parents at the latter place.
