Ansell, Alfred Charles Dadson
Born 1894 Westbury Tasmania the son of Charles and Catherine Ellen Ansell (nee Dawson) a labourer he embarked Melbourne 22nd December 1916 on board “HMAT Persic” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 23rd April 1918 in France and is commemorated in the Meteren Military Cemetery, France. On Saturday afternoon Rev. J. Tryon Wilson conveyed to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ansell, of Upper Burnie, the sad news that their eldest son, Pte. Alfred Charles Dadson Ansell, was killed in action on April 23. Pte. Ansell was rejected five times previous to being accepted for service abroad. Another son, Gunner C. N. Ansell, is in camp. North Western Advocate 14th May 1918
