Ansell Herbert Abraham

 

 

 

 

Born 1st October 1878 Hobart Tasmania the son of Henry and Hannah Ansell (nee Cohen) a clerical secretary he enlisted 7th July 1915 and embarked Melbourne 14th March 1916 on board “HMAT Anchises” with the 29th Battalion.

 

He gave his religion as Jewish and had matriculated at the Hutchens School Hobart and also attended University here.

 

Lieutenant Ansell was killed in action 23rd October 1916 at Ligny-Thilloy, Somme and is commemorated in the A.I.F. Burial Ground
