Ansell Herbert Abraham

Born 1^st October 1878 Hobart Tasmania the son of Henry and Hannah Ansell (nee Cohen) a clerical secretary he enlisted 7^th July 1915 and embarked Melbourne 14^th March 1916 on board “HMAT Anchises” with the 29^th Battalion.

He gave his religion as Jewish and had matriculated at the Hutchens School Hobart and also attended University here.

Lieutenant Ansell was killed in action 23^rd October 1916 at Ligny-Thilloy, Somme and is commemorated in the A.I.F. Burial Ground
