Atkins Frederick John

Born Clarence Tasmania to Charles Lewis and Ellen Elizabeth Atkins (nee Ford) a 26 year old labourer he embarked Melbourne 27^th September 1915 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 15^th Battalion.

He underwent a medical examination at New Zealand Auxiliary Hospital, Ismailia, 26 February 1916 as he was suffering from fits and in March was transferred to the 47^th Battalion. He was again hospitalised with shell shock and fits and eventually invalided home to Australia and discharged 24^th August 1916 as medically unfit.

He died suddenly 31^st January 1919 aged 29 and was buried at Cornelian Bay Cemetery.
