Atkins Frederick John
Born Clarence Tasmania to Charles Lewis and Ellen Elizabeth Atkins (nee Ford) a 26 year old labourer he embarked Melbourne 27th September 1915 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 15th Battalion.
He underwent a medical examination at New Zealand Auxiliary Hospital, Ismailia, 26 February 1916 as he was suffering from fits and in March was transferred to the 47th Battalion. He was again hospitalised with shell shock and fits and eventually invalided home to Australia and discharged 24th August 1916 as medically unfit.
He died suddenly 31st January 1919 aged 29 and was buried at Cornelian Bay Cemetery.
