WW1
Baker Arthur Henry Bowden
NORTH MOTTON. A gloom was cast over the district when the sad news was received that Corporal Arthur Baker had been killed in action in France. The case is particularly distressing as the deceased soldier leaves a young wife, and one child, a fine boy whom the father has not seen, he was horn while the father was fighting for King and country. Corporal Baker was a native of Devonshire, England, and had served nine years in India before coming to Tasmania. Mrs. Baker is also a native of Devonshire, and came to Tasmania with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tamlyn, who still reside in the district. Mrs. Baker has three brothers still serving at thefront. - The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Baker in her bereavement. The North Western Advocate 12th June 1917
