Barnard, Eric Gordon

 

 

Born 1892 Launceston Tasmania the son of Arthur George and Phebe Alice Barnard (nee Bailey) a fireman on the railway he embarked Melbourne 30th September 1916 on board “HMAT Suffolk” with the 12th Infantry Battalion

He was killed in action 6th April 1917 in France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. 

His brother Pte William Henry Barnard (No 3626) was also killed in action 21st January 1918 and is commemorated in the Duhallow ADS Cemetery, Belgium.

BARNARD. -Killed in action in France, between the 6th and 10th of April, 1917, Private Eric Gordon Barnard, fifth son of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Barnard, Sorell, aged 24. For King and Country.
