Barrett, Sydney John

 

 

 

Born Denison Victoria the son of George and Phoebe Barrett a miner living in Beaconsfield Tasmania he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was killed in action 12th October 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial (Panel 25), Belgium.

 

Military Medal

Led men with great ability and dash during advance of Company at Messines on 7 June 1917.
