Beaton, Colin Murdoch
Born 1888 Frankford Tasmania the son of Roderick and Ann Beaton (nee Fraser) a miner he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion. Lance Corporal Beaton was killed 5th October 1917 when hit by a shell in Belgium and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium. BEATON.—Killed in action in Belgium on October 5th, Lance-Corporal Colin Murdoch Beaton, only brother of K. Beaton, Winkleigh. Deeply mourned. For King and country.
