Born 1892 Wynyard Tasmania the son of Arthur and Mary Ann Best a labourer he embarked Melbourne 24^th August 1916 on board “HMAT Botanist” with the 12^th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 14^th March 1918 and is commemorated in the Spoilbank Cemetery, Belgium.
