Bethune, Norman McLeod

Born 1^st April 1886 “Cluny” Ouse Tasmania the son of Joseph Robert and Sibella Maria Bethune (nee Patterson) an irrigation farmer living in Sale Victoria he embarked Melbourne 25^th February 1915 on board “HMAT Star of Victoria” with the 8^th Light Horse Regiment.

He served at Gallipoli and Palestine and died of wounds at Gaza on 19^th April 1917 and os commemorated in the Jerusalem Memorial, Jerusalem War Cemetery, Israel

His brother Alexander Douglas Bethune of the 8^th Light Horse Regiment was killed in action 7^th August 1915 at Walker’s Ridge on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

BETHUNE (of wounds on 19/4/17). —Trooper Norman McLeod, dearly loved nephew, and adopted son of Mary J. and the late Donald McLeod Paterson of "Chirita," 399 Dandenong road Armadale.
