Bethune, Norman McLeod

 

Born 1st April 1886 “Cluny” Ouse Tasmania the son of Joseph Robert and Sibella Maria Bethune (nee Patterson) an irrigation farmer living in Sale Victoria he embarked Melbourne 25th February 1915 on board “HMAT Star of Victoria” with the 8th Light Horse Regiment.

 

He served at Gallipoli and Palestine and died of wounds at Gaza on 19th April 1917 and os commemorated in the Jerusalem Memorial, Jerusalem War Cemetery, Israel

 

His brother Alexander Douglas Bethune of the 8th Light Horse Regiment was killed in action 7th August 1915 at Walker’s Ridge on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

BETHUNE (of wounds on 19/4/17). —Trooper Norman McLeod, dearly loved nephew, and adopted son of Mary J. and the late Donald McLeod Paterson of "Chirita," 399 Dandenong road Armadale.
