Bickham, Charles Henry

 

Born N ewport Victoria the son of Henry and Mary Ann Bickham (nee Wilkie) but living and working as a butcher at Lefroy Tasmania he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was promoted to Lance Corporal 1st July 1916 with another promotion to Corporal on 1st October 1917.

 

He was killed in action 12th October 1917 at Passchendaele Ypres Belgium and is commemorated on the The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

 

His brother Lance Corporal Clifford William George Bickham also of the 40th Batallion was  killed in action, Messines, Belgium, 7 June 1917
