Birchall, Norman Sydney

 

Private Norman Sydney Birchall

 

Born 1892 Sorell Tasmania the son of Sydney and Mary Ann Birchal (nee Phipps) single a labourer he embarked Hobart Tasmania 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was killed in action 12th October 1917 at Passchendaele Belgium when he was hit by pieces of a shell and is commemorated on the The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial (Panel 29), Belgium
