Black, Archibald Hugh

 

Born Brighton Victoria the son of Lt Col Archibald George and May Florinda Black (nee Anderson) an engineering student he was living in Devonport Tasmania when he enlisted and embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion and the rank of sergeant.

 

He had served in the 91st Infantry; Served as Sergeant in the 91st Bn, Senior Cadets; as Lieutenant in the 91st Infantry (Tasmanian Rangers

 

He was killed in action 13th October 1917 at Passchendaele Belgium and is commemorated on the The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial
