Blizzard, James Lewis

Born 16^th August 1892 Stanley Tasmania the son of James and Lucy Jane Blizzard (nee Dobson) and married to Lucy Louisa Enniss a labourer of Montague River Tasmania he embarked Hobart 1^st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40^th Infantry Battalion.

He had only arrived in France when he was admitted to hospital with scarlet fever and didn’t rejoin his battalion until 10^th January 1917.

He was killed in action 5^th October 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

Word has been received at Stanley of the death in France of Privates Eric Blizzard and James Blizzard. Both were natives of Forest. The last-named was married and he was well known as a footballer.
