BOND, RICHARD
Studio portrait of 2011 Private (Pte) Richard Bond, 36th Battalion, of New Norfolk, Tas. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Bond embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements from Melbourne on SS Makarini on 10th September 1915. On 27th March 1917 he died of wounds received in action in France and is buried in the Poizieres British Cemetery, Ovillers-La Boisselle. His two brothers, 4763 Pte Francis John Bond and 2901 Pte William Bond were also killed in action
