Bound David Edward

 

David Edward BOUND

 

Born 4th April 1893 Latrobe Tasmania the son of William and Rose Bound (nee Manning) a postman he enlisted and embarked Sydney 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Euripides” with the 4th Infantry Battalion.

 

He served at Gallipoli and was appointed Lance Corporal 24th February 1916

 

Cpl Bound was serving with the 1 Battalion Camel Corps when he was killed in action 19th April 1917 on the advance to Gaza and is commemorated in the Gaza War Cemetery, Gaza, Israel

 

Mrs Rose Bound of Sheffield received the sad news on May 3rd from the Defence Department that her eldest son Lance Corporal Dave Bound who was connected with the Camel Corps in Egypt had been killed in action.  The only son left to Mrs Bound is Private W Bound who has been declared unfit for further service, he having been invalided home with a shattered hand.  Both these young men were at the landing of Gallipoli.
