BROOKS, ALFRED AUGUSTUS

 

Studio portrait of 5792 Private (Pte) Alfred Augustus Brooks, 21st Battalion from Bairnsdale, Victoria (born Castra Tasmania) A 30 year old labourer prior to enlistment on 15 March 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 16th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 2 October 1916 aboard HMAT Nestor. Pte Brooks was killed in action on 3 May 1917 near Bullecourt, France and is commemorated on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France
