Brown, Donald Arthur Henry

 

 

 

 

Born 1885 Dysart Tasmania the son of Major Arthur Henry and Alicia Brown (nee Martin), head teacher he embarked Melbourne 19th February 1915 on board “HMAT Runic” with the 15th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 9th August 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

Reference is made in this month's ''Educational Record” to the death of Mr. D. A. H. Brown killed in action at the Dardanelles. Mr. Brown, who left the Magnet State School to go to the front had previously had charge of the schools at Deep Bay and at Gladstone respectively and had passed through the Training College. Mr. Brown was the son of Major A. H. Brown, who recently retired from the department after completing 34 years.
