Brown, William Alder
Born England but living in Hamilton Tasmania from the age of 4 years the son of William George Brown a builder he enlisted and embarked Melbourne 22nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Ulysses” with the 14th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 2nd May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated in the Courtney's and Steel's Post Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey His only brother Harold Baylie Brown (No 1159) was also killed in action on the same day on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial.
