Buck, Aubrey Leonard
Born 1895 Launceston Tasmania the son of Thomas and Flora Buck (nee Grundy) a blacksmith he embarked Brisbane 5th October 1915 on board “HMAT Warilda” with the 26th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 25th August 1916 at Pozieres France and is commemorated in the Serre Road Cemetery No 2.
TASMANIAN CASUALTIES General regret was expressed throughout the Sprent district when the sad news became known that Pte. Aubrey (Mick) Buck had been killed in action in France. The deceased soldier was a native of Sheffield, but spent the most of his time at Sprent where he was very popular. Pte. Buck enlisted from Sprent about 18 months ago with a number of other local boys. The North Western Advocate 27th September 1916
