Buckpitt, George Kenny
Born 1885 King Island Tasmania the son of Edward Wheaton and Jane Buckpitt (nee Kenny) a carpenter he embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He died 5th June 1915 from wounds received on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey. His brother Pte Charles Thomas Buckpitt was awarded the Military Medal and returned to Australia 14th November 1918
