Burbury Alan Cecil
Born 13th March 1894 Oatlands Tasmania the son of Arthur Henry and Fanny Rowell Burbury (nee Hood) a pastoralist who embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment.
Sgt Burbury was wounded 9th January 1917 at the battle of El Rafa Egypt and from the nature of his wounds little hope was held for his survival but he lingered on for over 2 years suffering intense pain from a fractured spine.
He died 30th April 1919 at the 31st General Hospital in England from septic poisoning of the spine the result of a gunshot wound to the back which paralysed him from the wait down and was buried in the Greenwich Cemetery, London, England, United Kingdom
