Born Port Cygnet Tasmania but living at Tolga North Queensland when he enlisted, he embarked Brisbane 24th May 1915 on board “HMAT Ascanius” with the 26th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 5th November 1916 at Moquet Farm France when he was shot in the head by a snipers bullet and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
