Burge George James

Born Port Cygnet Tasmania but living at Tolga North Queensland when he enlisted, he embarked Brisbane 24^th May 1915 on board “HMAT Ascanius” with the 26^th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 5^th November 1916 at Moquet Farm France when he was shot in the head by a snipers bullet and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
