Burns, John William Easton
Born 1896 Lilydale Tasmania the son of John and Mary Ann Burns (nee Bailey) a labourer he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima’ with the 40th Infantry Battalion.
He was serving with the 49th Battalion when he died 22nd April 1918 at the County of Middlesex War Hospital Napsbury England from shell wounds to the right arm and was buried in the Hatfield Road Cemetery, St Albans, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.
Unfortunately his family received no personal items as the ship “Baranga” was sunk on the way to Australia.
