Burrill, Harold Alfred
Born 6th March 1892 Oatlands Tasmania to Thomas Alfred and Jessie Burrill (nee Tait) and was a butcher who embarked 26th August 1915 from Adelaide on board “RMS Morea” with the 3rd. Light Horse Regiment.
He was killed in action at Romani and is commemorated on the Kantara War Memorial Egypt. OATLANDS SOLDIER'S DEATH. Our Oatlands correspondent writes:"Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Burrill of Oatlands have received word that their son, Private Harold Burrill, has been killed in action in Egypt. He was well known as a splendid hand with horses, and had ridden at trials of hunters at North and South shows. He was also a good footballer. Very genuine sympathy is felt for Mr. and Mrs. Burrill and family in their sad loss." The Mercury 18th Aug 1916
