Bye Albert Walter
Born 1895 Cressy Tasmania the son of Walter and Ada Maria Bye (nee Watson), a farmer he embarked Melbourne 27th September 1915 on board “HMAT Hororata” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 28th May 1918 in France and is commemorated in the Borre British Cemetery, France. Our Turner’s Marsh correspondent writes – The Reverend L O Ferris conveyed the sad news on Saturday morning to Mr and Mrs Walter Bye that their second son Private Albert W Bye had been killed in action on May 28th. The deceased, who went on active service about three years ago was 23 years of age and was the first to enlist from this district. The deceased was of a quiet unassuming nature and was greatly respected. He was a prominent member of the Methodist Church. The greatest sympathy is expressed for Mr and Mrs Bye and family.
