Carey, Mervyn Laurence

 

Born 3rd May 1895 Sheffield Tasmania to John and Mary Ann Carey (nee Shaw) a farmer  who embarked Melbourne 27th June 1916 on board “HMAT Barambah” with the 3 Divisional Ammunition Column

He was serving with the 23A Medium Trench Mortar Battery Australian Field Artillery when he was killed in action 16th September 1917 and was buried in the The Huts Cemetery, Belgium

 His brother Sgt Normal Samuel Carey was also killed in action 28th March 1918 in France.
