Carey, Mervyn Laurence

Born 3^rd May 1895 Sheffield Tasmania to John and Mary Ann Carey (nee Shaw) a farmer who embarked Melbourne 27^th June 1916 on board “HMAT Barambah” with the 3 Divisional Ammunition Column

He was serving with the 23A Medium Trench Mortar Battery Australian Field Artillery when he was killed in action 16^th September 1917 and was buried in the The Huts Cemetery, Belgium

His brother Sgt Normal Samuel Carey was also killed in action 28^th March 1918 in France.
