Carland, Leslie Thomas
Born 1895 Ballarat Victoria to Francis and Ellen Carland (nee Cox) he enlisted from Tasmania where he was employed as a clerk in the shipping office of Holyman and Son. He embarked Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 2nd May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
PRIVATE L. CARLAND (killed) was the son of Mr. V. Carland, of Haddon. He was at one time a clerk in the Railway department, and was a clerk in Tasmania when he enlisted. He was 20 years of age.
