Challis, William Alfred

Born 3^rd February 1889 Deep Bay Tasmania the son of William and Matilda Ann Challis (nee Cohen) a labourer he embarked Hobart 1^st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40^th Infantry Battalion.

He was serving with the 51^st Battalion when he was killed in action 24^th April 1918 in France and is commemorated in the Adelaide Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France
