Cherry, William Archibald

 

200 Sgt William Archibald Cherry 12th Battalion

 

 

 

Born 4th December 1892 Ringarooma Tasmania to William Samuel and Alice Mary Cherry (nee Curtis he was a labourer when he enlisted and was posted to the 12th Battalion. 

He departed Hobart 20th October 1914 on “HMAT Geelong”. 

He was wounded in action at Gallipoli and on 20th April 1917 promoted to corporal and a couple of months later on 9th June 1917 he was promoted to sergeant. He was killed in action 7th October 1917 in Belguim
