Chopping Charles Isaac

 

Born 1889 Franklin Tasmania to Isaac Hooper and Lucy Elizabeth Chopping (nee Smith) an engine driver he embarked Fremantle 2nd October 1914 on board “HMAT Ascanius” with the 11th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 19th May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.

His brother Pte Reginald Eric Chopping (No 2228) died in Egypt 29th January 1916 from meningitis and was buried in the Ismailia War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
