Chopping Reginald Eric

 

Reginald Eric Chopping War Grave

 

Born 27th July 1898 Woodbridge Tasmania the son of Isaac Hooper and Lucy Elizabeth Chopping (nee Smith) he embarked Fremantle 25th June 1915 on board “HMAT Wandilla” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He died 29th January 1916 in Egypt from meningitis and was buried in the Ismailia War Memorial Cemetery, Ismailia, Suez Canal, Egypt

 

His brother Pte Charles Isaac Chopping was killed in action 9th May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial Gallipoli Turkey

CHOPPING. -On January 29, 1915, at Ismailia of Cerebro-spinal meningitis, Private Reginald Eric (Reg) Chopping, 12th Batt., 3rd Inf. Brgd., on active service, dearly loved youngest son of I. H. and L. Chopping of Woodbridge, Tas., in his 18th year.
