Clarke, Claude Ernest
Born 26th November 1888 Deloraine Tasmania the son of Charles and Ellen Clarke (nee Clark) an orchardist he embarked Fremantle 19th April 1915 on board “HMAT Argyllshire” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He died 13th September 1919 after discharge at the Cameron Street Base Launceston from influenza and was buried in the Carr Villa General Cemetery, Tasmania, Australia. General sympathy was expressed for Mrs Clarke and family of East Glengarry when the fact became known that her son Private Claude Clarke had passed away at the Base Hospital. The deceased was the only one of three to return and had been ailing since. A short time ago he contracted influenza and in spite of constant attention passed away. An in memorium service is to be held at East Glengarry on Sunday 28th instant. The Weekly Courier 25th September 1919
