Clarke, John Joyce

Born Oxford England he enlisted Hobart Tasmania and named his father Harry Thomas Clarke of Abington England as his next of kin. He embarked Hobart Tasmania 20^th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 3^rd Light Horse Brigade.

He had spent 5 years in the King Edward Horse Brigade in England and was working in Tasmania as a Warehouse Manager.

He died 15^th August 1915 on board hospital ship “Guildford Castle” from a bullet to the neck received on the Gallipoli Peninsula and was buried at sea. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey
