Cole, Walter Rivers

Born Port Cygnet Tasmania the son of William Henry and Annie Louise Cole an upholsterer he embarked Melbourne 19^th September 1916 on board “HMAT Commonwealth” with the 4^th Machine Gun Company.

He was killed in action 18^th October 1917 at Zonnebeke Belgium and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium

His brother Sgt Sydney Roland Cole died 13^th September 1918 from wounds received in the field and was buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France
