Cole, Walter Rivers

 

 

 

Born Port Cygnet Tasmania the son of William Henry and Annie Louise Cole an upholsterer he embarked Melbourne 19th September 1916 on board “HMAT Commonwealth” with the 4th Machine Gun Company.

 

He was killed in action 18th October 1917 at Zonnebeke Belgium and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium

 

His brother Sgt Sydney Roland Cole died 13th September 1918 from wounds received in the field and was buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France
