Cook John William

 

 

Born 12th March 1895 Campbell Town Tasmania to Alfred and Mary Cook (nee Eberhart) a labourer who departed Melbourne 22nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Ceramic” with the 15th Infantry Battalion.

 He was killed in action 8th August 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

His brother Leslie Cook (No 826) died from wounds received in the field in Belgium and was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
