Cooke Robert Randall
Born 15th December 1891 Launceston Tasmania to Robert and Emma Cook (nee Randall) a wicker worker he embarked Brisbane 29th June 1915 on board “HMAT Aeneas” with the 26th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 3rd March 1917 in France and is commemorated in the Warlencourt British Cemetery, France. Canon de Coetlogon was entrusted with the conveyance of the sad intelligence yesterday to Mr. Robert Cooke of 8 Balaclava Street, Invermay of the death of his son, Private Robert Randall Cooke, who, according to the official advice, was killed in action on March 3. Private Cooke was a member of the 26th Battalion and enlisted in Launceston I April, 1915. He went through the Gallipoli campaign, and since the evacuation he has been on the Western front. He was 24 years of age and was a well-known member of the Launcestonm Harriers. He was employed for some years at Coogar's factory.
