Corbett, Leslie

Born Hobart Tasmania a miner who listed his mother Jane Corbett of Surges Bay as next of kin enlisted Claremont Tasmania but after four months in camp he was discharged for misconduct.

He re-enlisted Charters Towers in July 1915 and embarked Adelaide 16^th August 1915 on board “HMAT Kyarra” with the 15^th Infantry Battalion.

His 2^nd enlistment papers show his mother as Eugenia Corbett (foster mother)

He was serving with the 12^th Machine Gun Company when he was listed as missing, a court of enquiry found he was killed in action 8^th August 1916 at Pozieres. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Villers-Bretonneux Area, France
