Corby Eugene Joseph

Born Kyneton Victoria the son of John and Susan Corby a labourer of Cutten Street Queenstown Tasmania he embarked Melbourne 2nd February 1915 on board “HMAT Clan McGillivray” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was killed in action 9th May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey.

 

CORBY.-Killed in action at Gallipoli on May 9 1915 (previously reported missing), Eugene Joseph Corby, 15th Battalion, dearly beloved fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. John Corby, Queenstown, Tasmania (late of Kyneton), and beloved grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Travers Heathcote, aged 22 years.
