Courtney William
Born Launceston Tasmania the son of Isaac John and Elizabeth Alice Courtney a plasterer he enlisted Liverpool New South Wales and embarked Sydney 31st March 1916 on board “HMAT Star of Victoria” with the 13th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 11th April 1917 at Bullecourt (previously reported missing) and is commemorated in the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France. His brother Corporal Roy Courtney (MM) died 29th July 1919 Hobart Tasmania and was buried in the Carr Villa General Cemetery, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.
