Cummings Mortimer
Born 1866 Port Sorell Tasmania the son of Anderson and Letitia Cummings (nee Flint) and married to Margaret Mary Clampett a stock dealer who had been allotted to the 40th Battalion.
Was twice under sailing orders but was but both times stricken down with pneumonia and died 13th June 1917 at the Base Hospital Launceston. He was accorded a military funeral and buried in the Carr Villa General Cemetery, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia
Two of his sons served but safely returned to Tasmania A MILITARY FUNERAL. A military funeral was yesterday accorded Private Mortimer Cummings, who died at the Military Hospital, Launceston. Deceased was on leave earlier in the week from Claremont and contracted pneumonia. Ho was a widower and two of his sons are fighting in France. The Mercury 15th June 1917
