Dadson, John
Born 10th October 1889 Launceston Tasmania to John and Emily Dadson (nee Flood) a farmer who departed Hobart 1st. July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion Lance Corporal Dadson was killed in action 4th October 1917 and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
The sad news of the death of Corporal John Dadson was conveyed to his mother at Bangor by the Rev. W. Greenwood. Private Dadson soon after reaching England had the misfortune to break his leg. When well enough he was engaged in rural work in France and only rejoined his company two months previous to his death. Jack, as he was familiarly known, was a great favourite with his chums, and the greatest sympathy is expressed for his relatives. Mrs. Dadson has another son on active service, Lieutenant Leslie Dadson, who lately was awarded the Military Cross for distinguished bravery. Examiner Launceston 1st November 1917
